"Meet the Saxons" The Saxons were a short-lived obscure sixties beat band that consisted from Allan Taylor, Colin Mac, Dave Bruce, Gerry Cook, Tommy Worth. Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album three stars out of five, and, in his mixed review, described it as "the quiet before the storm", in terms of the band's subsequent success, and the rising New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Rivadavia also criticized the band's then-lack of experience in the studio as well as their record label, Carrere, for not knowing "how to capture a heavy metal. Greatest Hits Live is the third live album by the band naysylrisigulourvegigersameshung.co was released in just one year after their previous live album Rock 'n' Roll Gypsies to celebrate the tenth anniversary years of the band's activity, together with a VHS of the concert. This '10 Years Of Denim And Leather' concert was later released on DVD as Saxon 'Live Legends' with the extra track Strong Arm of the Law.

Three years after its foundation (in as Son of a Bitch), the first Saxon album, simply entitled "Saxon", came like a fresh example of early NWOBHM, produced by ex-Argent singer John Verity and released by French Disques Carrère label in May of and, although its production isn't very good, this still is one of the most enjoyable and distinctive records of this band.

One thing they lack is controversial, tawdry, or disturbing lyrics and album concepts, which seem to have been a staple of 80s metal bands. I find this refreshing. Instead, Saxon focus on raw rock 'n roll and have more of a motorbike focus as well as plenty of Anglo-Saxon patriotism with crusader and warrior themes/5(86).

Dodgy artwork aside, Power & The Glory was the first Saxon album to feature the percussive talents of Nigel Glockler and while there are some sound issues with the original release, album number 5 is still a damn fine album. Bookended by two fine tracks, opener “Power and the Glory” is Saxon at their head-banging-est best, full of taut heavy riffing from Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver while.
